The Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation has awarded more than 2,900 grants totaling $1.6 billion since 1937. We steward resources by following donor intent and operate with a lean staff and overhead, which allows us to devote more resources to grants. More than 96% of the Foundation’s annual spending goes directly to grantmaking.
